Theater seating in Thailand

Going to movies in Thailand is interesting because after everyone is there and in the theater seating, when the lights go off first of all they play the national anthem (I assume it's that -- maybe it's just the king's theme song) and play a short movie clip of the king, lots of excerpts from all newsreels and so on. And everyone stands up as it plays, not sitting down until it's over. Then the real movie begins. So it's a lot like the national anthem being sung before baseball games in the United States.

Network cables carrying angry discussions

Thanks to what's going on in Washington DC about this immigration bill, I've never heard talk radio the way I've been hearing it. It's amazing how every host I listen to, from locals such as Dave Glover and Crane Durham to Sean Hannity and Mark Levin, are up in arms at both Democrats and Republicans. They're also worried because of the explicit threats to them from both Democrats and Republicans. They incredibly angry, including at President Bush, to a level I've never heard before. Hannity and Levin have disagreed with Bush before, but never attacked him the way I heard last night. The network cables must be steaming hot with the level of passion this is generating, since the president and senators from both parties seem determined to ram aliens down our throats.
