Getting more RAM

I really really need a new computer. Windows doesn't even support this operating system any more. My Internet provider doesn't want to provide me with tech support any more (so do you think they're going to get my business when I do upgrade to high speed access?) I want to get all the ram I can. I know that right now. I'd rather make do with a smaller hard drive than with anything less than the maximum of randon access memory, which is what my programs need to operate right now while my computer is running. That's part of owning a computer 101.
