On Super Bowl tickets

Since I live in St Louis, you know that the last thing I'm going to need in late January of 2008 are Super Bowl tickets. I'm not a big football fan, and I guess that's a good thing, because the St Louis Rams have gone from being the kings to being an embarrassment to the city. Of course, the St Louis baseball Cardinals are not far behind. They couldn't even make the baseball postseason playoffs, let alone be back in the world series. I know they lost pitcher Josh Billings and that was terrible, but still, they fell so far so fast, it's ridiculous. now our reputation as a great sports city is up to the St Louis Blues hocket team, which means we're in big trouble if the past is a guide. Of course the Rams and Cardinals have let down their past so maybe the Blues will go up from their dismal past.

On a utility cart

Thinking about travel and a utility cart, I think of variations, such as the carts hotel maids (excuse me, now they're housekeepers, not maids anymore. Who wants to be a maid? Nobody. They'll clean houses and rooms but they're not maids anymore) push full of newly washed sheets, towels, washclothes and pillow cases. Also cleaning supplies. And airline stewardess (excuse me, attendants) push down the aisle with soft drinks and meals when it's meal time. So a lot of people have to push carts of various kinds as part of their jobs.

On trophies

When I was a swimmer for the YMCA during the winter during my late childhood years, we would all get trophies at the end of the year. If you qualified for the State meet, you got a big one. If you couldn't get past the District meet, you got a smaller one. Looking back, though, I don't know how much that ever motivated me. I continued to go because it was the thing to do -- I'd started doing it at a younger age, so I just kept wanting to do it. I mean, i was friends with everyone and it's what we did. Plus it was fun in a lot of ways, although hard work also. I'm glad for all that hard work now.
