On 3 person tents

Then there are other vague things. Warson Woods is in the middle of residential St Louis country, surrounded by many other municipalities, with the city of St Louis just a little ways to the east. There's a vague mention of everything disappearing. What precisely does that mean? It should have a dramatic impact on us about what's happened to the world, but it's not described? So houses are gone, not just empty as with other chapters in the book? Are trees standing? What about basements? Is water from broken pipes flooding out? And the people start out in cars packed with food and water and guns. Good thinking. But what about gas? Wouldn't you want to fill up before a long trip? Are the gas stations operational? How, if the rest of everything else has disappeared? Gas pumps require electricity to operate. What's happened to the electric wires. AmerenUE can barely keep power going during the best of times, how can they during the end of the world? They could have packed 3 person tents as well.
