On gold jewelry

It's amazing to see the contrast between how gold jewelry is sold in the U.S. and at least some places in Asia. First of all, in the U.S. the actual gold is an alloy -- it's never sold pure. Although this makes the jewelry stronger and more durable, in the Asian viewpoint we are diluting the gold. I know my exwife from Laos complained about the quality of American gold in jewelry. And in Thailand gold jewelry is put on display in shops in massive amounts.

Wearing a gold chain

I'm must admit I'm not big on guys who like to wear a gold chain . . . of course, it's fine for women to do so. Women are supposed to be the ones wearing jewelry, so far as I'm concerned, which makes me pretty old-fashioned. I admit to wearing a watch, but it's not fancy, and I do so because I need to know what time it is, so it doesn't count as jewelry. Maybe I'd wear a ring on my finger if I didn't like the feeling of stuff going on and off my somewhat big knuckles. But I don't wear earrings or other such stuff.
