On luxury watches

One thing I only sort of understand, and don't really have a desire for, is luxury watches. I mean, think about it -- the purpose of a watch is to tell you the time. It's a great indication of how much we can complicate things that we make watches that range from ultra cheap to ultra expensive, yet they all tell the time. Expensive ones may have more options, but most of them would just get in my way. I don't need to know the time in 20 foreign cities. Or call somebody up a la Dick Tracy. I just want to know what time it is. Quality and durability are what I'd got for if I wanted to pay more money.

On babydolls

One of the things I wound up buying for my younger nieces during my last trip to see them was babydolls. They had fun playing with them for a few days, then the dolls just kind of got left behind on the floor, on a shelf in the bathroom, and I don't know where else. Hopefully a few of them got packed away in bags to be taken out later for playing at a future date, when they'd seem new and fun again. But they moved on to wanting other toys before that happened.
