On laptop memory

The weather in St Louis is finally getting hot, and I was happy to hear Jamie Allmon and Crain of the Morning Show on 97.1 talk be happy about that. Too many weather people say we should be happy for cool weather. No. In summer, it's suppposed to be hot. Summer days should get into the 90s. And summer nights should remain around 80 to 85 so that you're comfortable wandering around in shorts and t-shirt. Our nights have been getting way down into the 70s and even 60s and that's not good in the summer, and it's ridiculous to say how wonderful that is. You're not supposed to need to wear a jacket in the summer. Ever. At any time during the 24 cycle. I don't care how much laptop memory you have. Summer days are supposed to be quite hot, and summer nights quite warm.

On Amazon books

Just yesterday I put in an order for some Amazon books. Two of them are about making money by publishing a book that is sold on Amazon. Lots of people don't know that print on demand is now a reality. I can remember when it was just seen as one more technological threat by writers already getting shafted by regular New York City publishers. Well, it's very difficult to get your book published by them. It's a long process to submit and be rejected, over and over again, and you really need an agent to have a chance. And then you could wait two or more years before you're published, and then you get only an advance unless you really sell a lot of books to get a royalty, and then they pay those only every 6 months.
